A Cafe Emulating You - Posh and Vibrant
Neighborhood: Capitol Hill
Is pre-brunching a thing? If not, let’s make it so with Atulea being that first stop on lazy weekend mornings. Stepping into Atulea invokes an airy dream. Natural light pours in, bouncing off the clean lines of the tile and tropical frond wallpaper. The digital menu offers several categories of matcha, milk tea, cheese tea, and coffee, of course. With cafes, Vanessa and I have our typical preferences. Anything rose for Vanessa, meaning a Lychee Rose Bubble Tea with boba and anything matcha for Teaira, meaning a Matcha Latte.
The open bar invites a sense of intimacy as the staff prepared our orders. What was most captivating was their almost precise and careful movements from whisking the the green powder to placing and setting the dishes; the essence of mise en place right before my eyes.
A long bench with delicate, yet comfy cushions underlines the happy, lush wallpaper. The seating arrangement fosters cross conversations with others who are too catching up with friends or stealing some moments to enjoy sips of authentic tea.
Atulea a safe-haven from otherwise bustling and busy shops, a breather from chaos.
